The Tesla Cybertruck was announced way back in 2019 and became an instant stunner. The EV was unlike any other, featuring a designer that was laughable to some and extremely wild to others. The controversial design brought with it some radical features including bullet-proof glass and premium specs.
The Tesla Cybertruck still remains in production to date, leaving everyone with more questions than before. However, there are pre-order functions available so you can know exactly the price as well as the features of the truck before it rolls out.
Tesla Cybertruck Prices in Canada
When Cybertruck was first launched, Elon Musk hinted that it would come at a starting price of $39,000. Knowing that Tesla usually releases its most expensive configuration of a model first, you can say that the Cybertruck would be relatively expensive. With the current turn of events, it seems that the base model of the Cybertruck will cost $39,500 with other models offering more configurations costing even more.
There are two more AWD variants with a tri or quad motor configuration and their prices should start at $49,900 and $69,900.
Tesla Cybertruck: What to Expect
EV Motor, Power, and Performance
Rapid advances in EV technology mean that the Cybertruck will come with way more features than was previously promised. There are up to four electric motor options to choose from though details are not fully clear on some models.
When it comes to performance, here are the initial numbers from Tesla.
- Single motor RWD: 250-mile range, 7500+ lbs towing capacity, 0-60mph in under 6.5 seconds
- Dual motor AWD: Over 300-mile range, 10,000+ lbs towing capacity, 0-60mph in 4.5 seconds
- Tri motor AWD: Over 500-mile range, 14,000+ lbs towing capacity, 0-60mph in under 2.9 seconds
Tesla plans to add a Quad motor AWD setup to the lineup but right now there are no details on what the features could look like.
Towing and Payload Capacity
Since it’s called a truck, you would expect the vehicle to be a beast when it comes to towing. Well, the Cybertruck makes huge promises in this area and if Tesla’s reputation is anything to go by, then it could be close or even better. The Cybertruck would be looking to compete with popular alternatives.
Tesla promises that the single- and dual-motorTesla will have a maximum tow rating of 7500 and 10,000 pounds, respectively. Tri-motor models will be able to pull a whopping 14,000 pounds. Every Cybertruck has the capacity to haul 3,500 pounds in its 6.5-foot cargo bed.
Range, Charging, and Battery Life
There is no official information as to the battery size of the Cybertruck, but we can expect every model to have a 250-kW charging cable. The Cybertruck will also have access to Tesla’s vast network of Superchargers. The driving range will depend on the number of motors, but you can expect a 250+ mile range for the base model with a single motor.
Interior and Comfort
Tesla is notorious for their minimalistic design. For some, this is due to the lack of creative designers at the company, however, the design has drawn some popularity and might be relived in the Cybertruck. Taking a look at the Cybertruck’s cabin, you will notice a repeat.
While most of the standard features and options haven’t been disclosed, the first images reveal a slab-like dashboard dominated by a large touch screen. There is a squared-off steering wheel that features some sort of illuminated display, however, these features have not been confirmed.
The Cybertruck will also have enough eat space for up to six people with a nifty slide-out tailgate. The latter can also double as a ramp to load up four-wheelers and motorcycles.
Additional Tesla Cybertruck Features
The Tesla Cybertruck is packed with so many exciting features or you can say ideas that will be mind-blowing once the truck is on the streets. The rumored bulletproof windows or cyberquad do draw some excitement but are nowhere near the main attractions.
Starting off, there is the raw, unpainted 300 series stainless steel design which is the primary color of all models. This means there are no color options with the Cybertruck, however, buyers can make modifications and wrap it in whatever color, design, or texture they want later. From matte black to silver, there are tons of options to go for if you’re into remodeling.
The Cybertruck features a 6.5-ft bed which gives users more space than a traditional truck. Inside the bed are 120- and 220-volt charging outlets, an air compressor, and a sliding tonneau cover to keep things enclosed. There are rumors that the sliding cover could function as an optional solar panel that could increase the range of the Tesla on a sunny day.
This Tesla comes with a fully transparent roof made from Armor Glass. This is no different than your regular panoramic sunroof except for the fact that it is bulletproof. The Cybertruck will come with digital mirror thanks to an array of cameras giving you full view of your front and rear at all times. There is also an optional built-in light bar that goes above the windshield which should give user more light alongside the long LED strip for the headlights.
The Cybertruck also features new and improved FSD (Full Self-Driving) software kit with changes made to suit a truck. These changes include long-travel air suspension, back-up camera modes for hooking up to a trailer, pitch and roll sensor displays, 4-wheel steering and more.
There aren’t any door handles in the Cybertruck. CEO Elon Musk said that the Cybertruck will detect when you’re approaching and automatically open the door for you. This feature might sound futuristic, but I can already hear the critics bawling about the cons and dangers of such features. For example, the doors opening automatically for someone else without the authorization. With Tesla, we can expect it to function just about right without any worries.
In closing, the Cybertruck could come with many more features but we have to wait and see just how it will operate like when it arrives.
